Terms and sources

The providers price in euros. Percentages are the same in any currency; fixed euro amounts (minimum amount, minimum fee, free allowance) are converted at the current rate: €1 = $1.12.

If you later send your bitcoin from the provider to your own wallet, the network fee comes on top: currently about $0.12 (1 sat/vB, 141 vbytes). For direct delivery to your wallet it is already included above.

Purchase costs only, paying by bank transfer. Cards often cost extra. What counts is the final price the provider shows you before you buy.

What we compare

Purchase costs only: fee and spread, plus the network fee where each purchase is sent straight to your wallet. The terms come from the providers’ pricing pages, checked on 28/09/2026 (sources below and under “Terms and sources”). You enter the amount in US dollars; the providers’ percentages apply in any currency.

The calculation

  1. The fee is deducted from the amount – at least the minimum fee if the provider has one.
  2. The rest is converted into bitcoin at the market price plus spread. The spread is a worse price and is often not shown as a “fee”.
  3. If the provider sends each purchase straight to your wallet, the network fee is deducted: current fee (live) × 141 vbytes for a standard transaction with one input and two outputs.[11]
  4. Cost = amount − market value of the bitcoin that arrives. Monthly: cost per purchase × 12 × years, at the same dollar amount.

Dollars and euros

The providers price in euros. Minimum amounts, minimum fees and free allowances in euros are converted using the current ratio of the bitcoin price in dollars and in euros. Price and network fee come live from our server; if it is unreachable, the calculator uses the last known values and says so.

When a provider does not state its spread

Kraken (Kraken app, recurring buy), Bitpanda and Relai state a price mark-up but not its size. There the table shows “from”: the actual cost is higher. At Relai one savings plan up to €100 a month has no service fee; above that we conservatively apply 1% to the whole amount.[10]

How much is the network fee?

It depends on transaction size and network load, not on the amount. For confirmation within an hour, 1 sat/vB is currently enough.[12] A standard transaction costs:

  • 1 sat/vB → 141 sats
  • 5 sat/vB → 705 sats
  • 20 sat/vB → 2,820 sats

$1 currently buys you 1,159 sats. With small amounts it pays to withdraw to your own wallet less often and in bundles.

What the calculator does not show

  • Paying by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay often costs extra, e.g. 1% at Bitvavo, 2.49% at BISON and 3% at Relai.[1],[4],[10]
  • Fees for withdrawing to your own wallet, e.g. 1,000 sats at 21bitcoin; BISON charges no fee for it (€0).[9],[4]
  • Volume tiers, referral discounts, price moves and taxes.
  • Quality and security of a provider – see the provider profiles. What counts is always the final price the provider shows you before you buy.
